What You Need to Make Your Matcha Lemonade

🍋 1/4 Lemon
🦋 Butterfly Pea Tea, brewed and cooled
🧊 Citrus ice (I use orange and lemon juice)
🍃1 tsp. of Bonsai Cha Kogane matcha
💦 1 oz. of water
🍵 Your Bonsai Cha Matcha Maker
🍭 2 tsp. of sugar (or to taste)

How to Make It

Step 1: Make your Citrus Ice. Fill an ice cube tray with lemon and orange juice, freeze, then top with water and freeze until firm.

Step 2: Brew your butterfly pea tea as directed and chill.

Step 3: Once your butterfly pea tea is chilled, fill a glass with your Citrus ice, then pour over the chilled butterfly pea tea.

Step 4: This is where the magic happens...! Squeeze your lemon over top and watch the colour change from blue to purple! If you like your lemonade sweet, stir in 2 tsp. of sugar or to taste.

Step 5: Add 1 oz. of water to your Bonsai Cha matcha maker and 1 scoop of Kogane matcha. Press twice to blend on the cold setting. Pour over top and enjoy!

The Benefits of Butterfly Pea Tea Matcha Lemonade

Rich in Antioxidants

Butterfly pea tea is rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals produced during prolonged sun exposure. Anthocyanins in butterfly pea tea exhibit strong antioxidant properties that can protect the skin from oxidative stress [1].

Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Matcha and Butterfly Pea Tea

The anti-inflammatory properties of butterfly pea tea can help reduce skin inflammation and redness caused by sun exposure. Research indicates that butterfly pea tea has significant anti-inflammatory effects that can soothe irritated skin [2].

Hydration with Matcha and Butterfly Pea Tea

Butterfly pea tea lemonade helps keep you hydrated, which is crucial for maintaining skin health and preventing dryness and sunburns caused by prolonged sun exposure. Proper hydration is essential for skin health and can help mitigate the effects of sun exposure [3].

Butterfly Pea Tea Helps with UV Protection

The natural compounds in butterfly pea tea can offer some degree of protection against UV radiation, reducing the risk of sunburn and skin damage. The flavonoids in butterfly pea tea can absorb UV radiation, providing a natural barrier against harmful UV rays [4].

Butterfly Pea Tea Enhances Skin Elasticity

Regular consumption of butterfly pea tea lemonade can improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage. The antioxidants in butterfly pea tea enhance collagen production, which is vital for maintaining skin elasticity [5].

Cooling Effect of Matcha Lemonade

Butterfly pea tea lemonade has a natural cooling effect, which can help lower body temperature and soothe sunburned skin. The cooling properties of butterfly pea tea are noted in traditional medicine and supported by studies highlighting its effectiveness in reducing heat and providing relief from sun exposure [6].

Immune System Booster

The vitamins and minerals in butterfly pea tea, combined with the vitamin C in lemonade, can boost the immune system, helping the body recover from the stress of sun exposure. The role of antioxidants and vitamin C in enhancing immune function and protecting the skin from environmental stressors is well-documented [7].
